Research found out that drinking cherry juice a day contains more antioxidants than eating portions of fruits like watermelon and banana and vegetables like tomatoes and carrot.

Cherries are small, red fruits but they are incredible fruits. Health experts said that all red fruits and veggies are rich in Anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are anti oxidants and anti inflammatory. The three substance found in cherries are the perillyl alcohol, limonene and ellagic acid. While ellagic acid is found in berries and limonene is found in citrus peel, cherry contains these three substances.

Cherry juice also contains one of the most powerful anti oxidant the quercetin. Quercetin prevents oxidative damage which produces the bad cholesterol. When bad cholesterol is oxidized, it sticks to the artery walls that form plaque which often contributes to heart attack and stroke. Quercetin is an anti inflammatory agent too; it improves asthma and other respiratory conditions.

By drinking cherry juice, this will help in preventing muscle damage caused by strenuous exercise. A study conducted in several male athletes showed that pain and strength loss were lowered after taking cherry juice for days. It also reduces pain from gout because of its anti inflammatory properties.

As the years went by, more health benefits from cherries are being discovered. Cherries help promote healthy skin and brain cells, evidence suggests that its anti oxidant properties help prevent dementia/memory loss.
